Dante and Afredo Guastalla
The brothers Dante and Alfredo made instruments together, following the models of Stradivari, Guarneri and Balestrieri. They also made instruments based on their own model, on which they utilized the same varnish as this cello. Alfredo was a student of Scarampella, and the tonal quality of their instruments is clearly inspired by the great master. This cello, made circa 1930, is a characteristic example of their work, with a robust, responsive tone. It is accompanied by a Dimitry Gindin certificate.
