Born in 1824, Jules Grandjon apprenticed with his father in Mirecourt. He then went to Paris where he worked with a number of important masters before going to Amsterdam where he took over his brother’s business. By 1850, he was back in Mirecourt where he established his own very successful workshop. He won medals at a number of important exhibits in Paris and London.

This beautiful violin is an outstanding example of his work and is easy to play with a quick, responsive tone.
