Charles Claude Darche was the pupil of his cousin N.F.Vuillaume in Brussels and established his own shop there in 1845 at age 24. He was highly respected as both a Luthier and a restorer. 

This is exactly the kind of instrument many violists are looking for. Although of a small, manageable size (15 ½”) it has a big viola sound with a quick response.
