The son of Max Millant, Bernard Millant became a key figure in the world of fine violins and bows. He studied violin making with Dieudonne and bow making with Morizot Frères.

In 1946 he came to New York along with Jacques Français but returned to Paris in 1950 where he set up his own workshop on Rue de Rome. Although trained as both a violin and bow maker, he has become best known as a master bow maker with numerous awards and prizes for his fine work. He is also important as one of the finest experts in fine old French bows.

This bow is built on the "Pascal" model amed after a viola professor at the Paris Conservatory.
