Born into a family of violin and bow makers, Andre Richaume’s uncles were Victor and Jules Fetique. Andre trained with Emile A. Ouchard (whose work influenced him throughout his career), and also his uncle Jules. before establishing his own Parisian workshop in 1930 when he was 25. His bows soon became popular with musicians from all over. In fact in 1955 he was awarded with the title “Meilleur Ouvrier de France”. The great David Oistrakh’s favorite bow was a Richaume and he visited Richaume’s shop whenever he came to Paris.

This wonderful bow, which is in almost new condition, is strong and vibrant with an almost electric playing quality. It’s a great all-around player’s bow and very easy to play.
