Born in Holland and trained as an engineer, Marten Cornelissen first made about 40 instruments as an amateur. He got training with the Czech masters Vladimer and Karl Pilar. When he came to this country he worked with a maker in Kansas City. He moved to Northampton, MA, and has since become one of the most successful makers in the country. His instruments were used by Yehudi Menuhin, Bernard Greenhouse and members of the Guarneri and Julliard quartets, as well as numerous professionals around the country.

This violin has a clear, balanced tone and is very easy to play. It would be an excellent choice for a professional orchestra musician.
