Gerhard trained with his father E.M. Penzel from 1943-46 and continued to work in his father's workshop until 1949 when he moved to Stuttgart where he cocmpleted his master's training in 1956. In 1974, he settled in Ostrach near Lake Constance bordering Germany, Leichstein and Switzerland. 

This bow is gold mounted and bears the brand "Exquisite", indicating it is of the finest work from the Penzel workshop.
