Giovanni Batista Morassi is considered one of the premiere modern Italian violin makers and a central figure in the growth of contemporary Cremonese making. Born in 1934, Morassi studied at the Cremona school from 1951-55 later becoming an important teacher there. Over the years his instruments won ten gold medals at international competitions. Morassi died in 2018 and his workshop continues under his son and nephew. This cello is tonally outstanding, responsive and an easy playability.
