This violin bears the Ernst Heinrich Roth brand internally and is labeled: Made in Germany
The D.Soriot violins were crafted in the workshop founded by Marc Laberte, one of the most important in Mirecourt. Laberte collected instruments by the great classical Italian makers and strove to reproduce their qualities.
The Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (JTL) workshop produced fine string instruments for several decades. Starting in he mid 19th. century. This violin is an unusually nice example of their work.
This is a beautifully made violin from one of the best Mirecourt workshops.
Marc Laberte was the director of the Laberte-Humbert Frères workshop which produced some of the best Mirecourt violins of the early to mid 20th Century. From the "Carlisle Collection", this fine violin would be an excellent and well priced violin for an advancing student.
Blondelet began his career with the Thibouville-Lamy firm at age 15. He became a highly regarded maker and was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1923. The tone is warm,full and rich.

Willi Götz trained in Berlin with Otto Möckel and Ludwig Neuner and Georg Piegendorfer in Augsburg before settling in Markneukirchen in 1903.
Heinrich Herman Todt trained in Markneukirchen and worked for an important maker in Busdapest befor reurning home. His workshop made high quality instruments for a number of important shops especially in the U.S. This violin was made for William Lewis and Son in Chicago, one of the largest and most important shops in the country.
P.A.Peterson worked in Chicago from 1875-1907. Although we don’t know a great deal about this maker, it is clear from our violin that he was a well trained and skillful craftsman.
We don’t know a great deal about Albert Hildebrandt, but this excellent violin demonstrates that he was a highly skilled maker. He was active as both a maker and dealer in Baltimore through the 1920’s.

The C.G. Conn company is one of the largest maker of musical instruments in the wrold. Between 1912 and 1936, they made stringed instruments in a range of qualities. The "Wonder" violins were among their best. This beautifully crafted violin is reminiscent of the highest quality instruments from Germany at that time.
