In his long and celebrated career, Bauer created superb instruments sought after by musicians all over the world. He studied with M. Didier in Mattaincourt (near Mirecourt). He moved to Le Havre in 1936 but left for Angers during the war to escape the bombing of that major military target. He stayed there for the rest of his career. His work was fine and unusually elegant. In fact, he won gold medals at a number of important competitions in the 1930's and 40's.

This violin has a wonderful all-around colorful tone quality with great playability.
