Ernst Heinrich Roth

The Ernst Heinrich Roth workshop may be one of the most famous in German violin making. It was established first in Markneukirchen and then in the early 1950s in Bubenreuth, West Germany. This is an exceptionally beautiful example of their best work with an especially nice golden varnish. It has a crisp upper register and a deep lower end.

The elegant style of Vuillaume’s instruments has inspired us to create a new model in his honor. Using European wood, the violins are based on his Guarneri model violin, the cello on his Strad pattern. The varnish imitates his unique lustrous golden hue. Elisa Scrollavezza

In 2002, Elisa formed a partnership with Andrea Zanrè, also a Scrollavezza student.
