Celeste Farotti

Celeste Farotti

Milan, 1970, 16 7/16". Farotti was a pupil of his great uncle Celeste Farotti. He is considered a very fine make and we are especially fond of his violas. This beautiful viola has a full, dark and warm tone.

Natale Carletti

1937, 16½". The oldest son of violin maker Carlo Carletti, Natale carried on the family tradition, working with his brothers Orfeo and Nullo. A talented cellist, he took over his father’s shop in 1941, winning first prize in the 1949 Cremona competition. This 16½ inch viola from 1937 is an excellent example of his work, with his characteristic dark red varnish and irregularly flamed maple back. The sound is deep, rich and resonant and would be an excellent instrument for a professional violist.
