London, 1903. In recent years, English cellos have increased in desirability, in large part because of their excellent tone. This interesting cello has an excellent tone, full, dark, and rich. It would be an especially good choice for a chamber music player. It is in superb condition.

Mirecourt, c early 19th. Century. This nice cello is of a slightly smaller size, but has an amazingly large, warm sound considering its size.

Max Franke

Leipzig, 1928. Franke worked with important makers in Frankfurt, Mannheim, Nürnberg and Berlin before moving to Leipzig where he took over the shop of Albin Wilfer. This beautiful cello has a nice golden orange varnish with an attractive craqueleur.

El Cerrito, 2010. This wonderful cello won a certificate of achievement for tone at the Violin Society of America competition in Cleveland.

Cremona, 2008. Daniele Tonarelli graduated from the Cremona violin making school in 1994 and after working with Marco Nolli, established his own workshop in Cremona. This beautiful cello is the second we have received from him. The tone is clear, rich, and resonant.

Giorgio Grisales

Giorgio Grisales

Cremona, 2010. Grisales has become one of the most important and influential of the contemporary Cremonese makers. He began his studies in Cremona in 1983 and finished in Milan before returning to Cremona. Our resident cellist finds this cello to be amazingly resonant, with a big, ringing sound.

Modena, 2007. Last year we received our first cello from this maker and we were so impressed that we ordered more. We now have three of his cellos. This gifted young maker trained with the Scrollavezzas in Parma and worked for a number of important makers before opening his own workshop three years ago in Modena. His workmanship is elegant and superb.

Cremona, 2010. This cello displays the most beautiful and elegant workmanship. The tone is quite big, focused and brilliant. Our staff cellist found it easy and enjoyable to play. Trabucci graduated with honors at the violin making school in Cremona in 1988 and has had his own workshop after working with Marco Nolli. He has won a number of awards for his work.

San Francisco, 2008. This Cremona trained maker is well-known in this area. Crafted from beautiful Italian poplar, this is an attractive and excellent sounding instrument.

Virgilio Capellini

Cremona, 1991. Capellini is considered one of the best Cremonese makers of his generation and is especially noted for his cellos. This attractive example is in excellent condition and has a full, warm tone.
